Calling all Foreign Service bloggers (and readers)

John and I are about to bid and Malachi's class 2 MED clearance is sticking like white on rice. With that said, we've been told that we have to do research about what posts have the proper medical care. So here are my questions...

Do you have a kid with Epilepsy? Do you know someone who has a kid with Epilepsy? Where are you, or they, posted? Does anyone know of any kind of easy to use (HA!) database where we can just check what posts have Pediatric Neurologists and ER's?

If anyone has any advice on this I would greatly appreciate it. We're supposed to bid soon, and we were just told today of the research we're supposed to do.

Have you tried posting on fsparent, fsspecial needs or livelines? Maybe someone would know someone.
Good luck.

Livelines! Good idea!

There actually IS a database! Well, it's more like a list. The employee can access it via the intranet. It's called something like Medical Bidding Tool. The most current one, I think, is Jan 2011.

I don't have any advise (apologies) but one of my peers in Vancouver has Class 2 issues w/in his family - I've passed on your link to him in hopes he can give you some good ideas. He and his family just went through bidding on their 2nd tour (successfully ultimatley). :)

Class 2 experience here. TulipGirl is right, there is a PDF file inappropriately named a "Tool". It is a list, by post, of medical services available. If it's not on the list, they don't have it. That said, you can see if you can find doctors you might need. We were on the summer bidlist and my wife found the names of more than one specialist in a couple of the places we wanted to bid on.

Best of luck - contact me offline if you want more info.
