Anticipation is the worst!

Tomorrow John, Malachi, and I all have our physicals for medical clearance. These are the most extensive physicals that we'll ever have had. I'm really not looking forward to this.

Until recently I've been pretty shameless about my body (when it came to doctors) but the thought of anyone but John seeing me naked is a bit upsetting. I realize it's a doctor but still, I don't like it. John will be in the waiting room with Malachi. I kind of wish he could come in with me, but apparently he doesn't even want to come in with me.

After our appointments Malachi has his at his pediatrician's office. I got a referal from that office for the doctor that we're going to, so it's in the same building. I really like that. We weren't given a list of doctors by the Department of State that does these crazy extensive physicals so I had to call around and ask people. I started with doctors in my area and was having really bad luck. Finally I called the Pediatritians office and got a referal. The nurses and all the staff that I talked to have all been very nice and very helpful. I guess that's a plus.

Then tomorrow night John and I are babysitting baby Karis. Our friends had her about 4 months ago and this is our first time babysitting her. I'm really excited. Her mommy is Korean (adopted) and her daddy is white, so Karis is a beautiful mix of them both.

For those who don't know, we've been trying to get pregnant for 10 months. John stated last night his desire to try harder. I don't really know what that means for us but we're both really ready for another. Please pray that the Lord would bless us with another child.

My apologies

It's been a while since I've blogged. I'm sorry that I haven't kept my readers up to date on things. Up until John Oral Assessment our lives were consumed with it. This past week our lives have been getting back to normal, but apparently normal life is still really busy.

I do believe that all my readers already know this, but I guess I may be wrong. John passed his Oral Assessment! I'm so proud of my hubby!

This weekend we're in Austin visiting our friends that are down here for University of Texas Austin Law School. We're having a great time with them. We went out to Sushi last night. I'm still a bit of a sushi wimp, but explored a little more last night and had a great roll with raw tuna on it. It was so tasty with the sauce they used.

Cassi died my hair. I'm now a brunet again. I really like this color on me.

Counting down the hours.

In about 24 hours we leave our apartment and set out on a journey of great importance.

We'll drop Malachi off at my friends house. Originally he was going to stay with our "Texas Parents" but "momma" got sick. Please pray for her, she has a tumor on her back and it needs to be removed ASAP. So tomorrow morning he goes over to his friend Rachel's house. Thank you Ginger for doing this so last minute. Malachi's very excited to stay with you guys.

John and I are going to be leaving our car at his job since it's just a couple of miles from the airport and his coworker is going to drop us off. We arrive in Atlanta at 3:00pm. We'll go check in and at some point we're going to do a practice walk to the Department of State building and watch LOST. My TV fast will be done tomorrow (yay!) so we'll get to catch up on some of our shows this weekend. We'll be going to bed early because it's a very early morning on Friday.

John plans on getting up at 5:30 to get ready in time. I believe he wants to leave at 6:30. Friday when John's at his Oral Assessment (OA) I'm going to the World of Coke and the CNN studio. Friday night's activites will depend on if he passed the OA. We're going out to celebrate if he does and if he doesn't (which I don't think will happen) we'll be getting some food and probably hanging out in the room.

We fly out of Atlanta at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon and get home at 3:00. We'll then go get our son and have a quiet night at home.

Everyone will be celebrating Valentine's Day, but John and I don't celebrate it on 2/14 anymore because it's too expensive and busy around town. Plus who can get a babysitter on VDay?! John proposed to me on March 14th, 2001 so starting this year we're going to celebrate on that day instead.

I've had a sore back since Sunday. I wore a dress that's too tight and now the muscles in my back are very stiff and sore when I sit for a long time or lay down for a long time. So, since I sit at work for four hours, it's pretty sore during that time and when I go home. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers while I'm flying since movement is so restricted.

We'll keep everyone posted about the OA on Friday.

This one doesn't have a title!

John, Malachi and I had a great weekend! John's brother Ben and his wife Sarah came down on Friday morning and left yesterday morning. We (John and I) haven't seen them since last March.

Friday Sarah was gone after lunch because she was a bridesmaid in a wedding on Saturday. We didn't see her again until Saturday evening. Ben and John hung out on Friday afternoon, going shopping for a video camera for Ben and Sarah, and hanging out with Val (Ben and Sarah stayed with her). Friday night we enjoyed pizza at our house with Val and then Ival, Sarah, and Peggy came over and we played some games. Ben killed us in Scattegories and we had a very fun time of Presidents (known by other names, of which I wont mention on this blog) where Sarah Dotson ended as Pres, and I as Vice.

Saturday morning John's parents arrived in town (they were invited to the wedding), and the whole family (minus Sarah :( ) hung out for a while until lunch when the grandparents took the boy and the kids got to go out for great Mexican.

Then John and I were on our own for a long time while his parents, brother, and sister-in-law were all at the wedding. It was very weird to have all that free time. I decorated the apartment, cleaned and napped. That night we had John's birthday party. It was a great time, unfortunately not many showed up. Only two non-family people came. Sorry John :(

I had a couple of surprises for him that were real surprises (very rare because I suck at keeping secrets). The first was his b-day cake. I made him a cookie monster cake this year because it was his favorite when he was a kid. He almost found out about that one a few times because it was so hard to keep it hidden while he was there. I was frosting it Saturday morning and there were a couple of times where we had to guard the cake from his view. When he saw it on Saturday night he laughed and smiled so big. It was so worth the trouble!

The second surprise was a video I made for him. Well, rather it was a video he made that I put on DVD. It was a video project for his English class in 11th grade. I stumbled upon it thinking it was the video of Malachi's sonogram. That was a big surprise for him. We watched it and laughed seeing him so long ago, and besides that it was a funny video.

Sunday we had a family brunch at our place and went to take some family photos. We were on the way to a wooded area on campus when Ben spotted a little ghetto playground we have in our complex. He decided it would be fun to take some shots there so we did, and they're actually pretty cute. Unfortunately half of Malachi's face is cut off in one of them. Thank you Ival for coming over and taking some shots of us with our four cameras (that was a pretty funny sight).

We hung out until John's parents left and then went over to Valeries house for dinner and Super Bowl. Val made a very, very good Ribs dinner and the game was a pretty fun one to watch. The commercials were pretty good, but the next day we didn't really remember many of them. After the game we watched the movie Get Smart. None of us but Val had seen it before and it was pretty enjoyable. I'd never seen the show so I didn't get a lot of the inside jokes.

Monday was John's birthday so when Malachi woke us up in the morning (after 7 - thank you!) I got our cards for him signed and his presents wrapped and we did that right off the bat. He liked his presents, yay! After we took Malachi to school we took Sarah and Ben to the Tutankhamen exhibit at the art museum. It was an hour and a half of Egypt and it was awesome! We checked on ticket prices to Egypt when we got home because we all wanted to go (it was surprisingly cheap). We all thought we'd be seeing the body of said Pharaoh, but apparently he's never left the Valley of Kings. I think that was the only dissaapointment.

We got Malachi from school a little early and headed to our favorite Chinese restaurant for dumplings mmm... We had a relaxing day at the apartment while Malachi napped and while we waited around until the babysitter came at 7. The adults then hung out at the pub where everyone but me got fish and chips (I got a burger (which I'll never do again). We hung out there for over two hours playing cards, talking to our server (who was very nice), and just enjoying the child free atmosphere for a bit.

On Tuesday we had a pancake breakfast and hung out for a couple of hours until Ben and Sarah left.

We had such a good time with them, I wish we got to see them more often.
