Galveston

We had such an awesome time in Galveston. Our first ever family vacation was a complete success. We learned that having a 2.5 year old with us really extends a drive. We had two potty stops in the first 40 miles, but after that we did pretty well. The trip was about six hours. We stopped at McDonald's for Malachi's lunch and then at a Dumpling house for John and I to eat. It was pretty good, but probably not worth the extra drive and the five toll booths we had to go through to get there.

When we got to the hotel we found out that they didn't have our reservation. We spent an hour waiting for everything to happen. Here's John on the phone with Priceline.

It ended up being great though because we got upgraded to a suite. The suite was awesome and throughout the whole trip we felt it really was worth the hour wait.

Our vacation was full of sun and rain, but we got to do many things. I think Malachi's favorite thing to do though was go to the beach.

We went to the railroad museum, Moody Gardens where we went to the Aquarium and Rain Forest. We went to the Rainforest Cafe where we rode the River Adventure Ride and Malachi made a tiger at the Build a Bear. We drove down the Sea Wall and saw some gorgeous houses (all on stilts).

Our last day may have been the best of all. We went back to Moody Gardens and spent a couple of hours at Palm Beach.

Hey! Looks like you guys had a blast :) Vacations are about 15x the work with even one fairly well-behaved child. And the day before departure, when you're stuffing extra toys and clothes and God-knows what else into the already stuffed duffle bags one wonders, "will it be worth it?" and it always is :) It's 15x the fun!

Your suite looked pretty...uh...sweet ;) I call those little upgrades presents from God, good and faithful servant. We got one of those last summer in Toronto - our upgrade overlooked the BlueJay's baseball stadium and we got to watch the game for free from our room!
